Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need an account to use the app?

No. Reading the Qur’an, checking prayer times, opening a dua, browsing hadith and following the salah guides all work without signing in. An account only exists so that your bookmarks and reading progress can follow you to a new device, and for the optional community features.

  • Why are my prayer times different from my local mosque?

Calculation methods differ legitimately, and so does the ‘Asr rule between the Shafi’i and Hanafi positions. Open Settings → Prayer times and select the method your local authority uses. If your local scholarly authority has set times for your area, follow it — the app computes an indicative time, it does not overrule a local authority.

  • Does the app work without an internet connection?

Yes, for the core. The complete Qur’anic text, the duas, the salah guides and the prayer-time calculation are all bundled and run on your device. Recitation audio and additional translations are optional downloads that you choose, and once downloaded they work offline too.

  • How do I free up storage?

Go to Settings → Storage & downloads. Every optional content pack can be removed individually. Removing a pack never deletes your bookmarks, collections, reading progress or settings.

  • I think a hadith is graded incorrectly. What do I do?

Please tell us, and include the collection, the number and the grading you believe is correct along with the source you are quoting. Corrections to religious content are the messages we read first and act on fastest.

  • Are the translations machine-generated?

No. Every translation of a religious text comes from a named published edition and is reproduced verbatim with its translator and publisher shown. No translation API, library or model has ever been used on a religious text in this project, and the build fails if such a dependency is added.

  • Are Ask a Mufti answers written by AI?

No. Questions are read and answered by human scholars. We will not present an automated answer as though a scholar had written it.

  • How do I delete my account?

Settings → Account → Delete account, or email privacy@mydeenguide.com from your account address. The full procedure, including what is kept and for how long, is on the account deletion page.

Website under development

My Deen Guide's website is still being built. Some features may be incomplete, and a few pages are still waiting on scholarly and legal review. Thank you for your patience.
