End-User Licence Agreement
This agreement governs your licence to use the My Deen Guide application. It applies in addition to the Terms of Service.
Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for personal non-commercial use.
You may not: reverse engineer the app except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded; redistribute or resell it; extract the bundled datasets for bulk redistribution; or remove attribution from quoted religious texts.
User-generated content
The community and Ask a Mufti features let you submit content. This section is required by app store guidelines and we apply it strictly.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you post. You grant us a licence to store, display and distribute it within the app for the purpose of operating the feature. You are responsible for what you post and confirm you have the right to post it.
Zero tolerance for objectionable content
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. The following are prohibited and will be removed:
- Content that insults, mocks or attacks any religion, prophet, scripture or religious community.
- Sectarian abuse, takfir directed at individuals, or incitement against any group.
- Fabricated or knowingly misattributed religious texts, and fatwas presented as scholarly rulings by people who are not qualified to give them.
- Harassment, threats, doxxing, hate speech, or content sexualising anyone.
- Spam, scams, fundraising appeals we have not verified, and commercial solicitation.
- Anything unlawful.
How moderation works
- Every user can report content and block another user.
- Reported content is reviewed and, where it breaches these rules, removed.
- Accounts that breach these rules may be suspended or terminated without notice and without refund.
- Ask a Mufti answers are written by human scholars. Answers are never generated by an automated system, and we will not present one as though it were.
Reporting
Report objectionable content from within the app using the report control on the item, or email support@mydeenguide.com. We aim to review reports within 24 hours.
Optional downloads
Some content is an optional download. Each pack is verified against a checksum when it arrives, and can be removed at any time from within the app without losing your bookmarks or settings.
Termination
You may stop using the app at any time and delete your account (see Delete your account and data). We may terminate this licence if you breach this agreement.
Third-party content
Quoted religious texts, translations, recitation audio and fonts are the property of their respective rights holders and are used under their terms. Those terms are recorded on Our sources & methodology.
